Review of Kendal Calling 2018

Brilliant festival despite the bad weather. Line up was fantastic. The libertines secret set & headliner set were the highlight but also loved watching the other bands (Peter Hook, OCS, The Wailers)
Security staff were great. Relaxed atmosphere, family friendly. Loved it.
Really enjoyed our time at Kendal Calling this year. Personally, I did not think the bands were as good as last year however they were still enjoyable.
The only down side was Deer Lodge - this is where you stay in a separate area with Tipi's/Bell Tents/Pod Pads etc. (Don't need to bring your own tent). They have placed Deer Lodge and a new area called Great Plains together, we paid ｣400 for a 2 person Bell Tent in Deer Lodge yet someone in the same area paid around ｣50 to bring their own tent to Great Plains. The people in Great Plains had access to all of the Deer Lodge facilities. Last year it was just Deer Lodge so the extra cost seemed appropriate to what we received (own food truck/nice showers & toilets etc). It was not the case this year.
The Deer Lodge area had also moved to a different place, this resulted in a much longer walk to the arena, it took us around 10/15 minutes to get from our tent to the security gate at the arena - last year it took less than 5 minutes. Our experience of Deer Lodge this year, its just not worth the extra money any more as you no longer have the 'VIP experience' as such.
4 times now and booking again for next week
Great festival that is well managed with a great selection of music on offer
festival was mint
Absolutely great for all the family. My 4 and 5year old love it we have attended 4years now and will be back 2019.
My only gripe was fairground rides were quite expensive and so was meals for the children. But other than this nothing to complain about.
Thanks Kendal calling
such a let down that Basement Jaxx were squashed in a tent. They should have been on the main stage. we couldn't get in the see it properly and were very disappointed, also, the prices at the bar were too steep. No wonder people sneak stuff in. if it was slightly cheaper they'd sell more. - just an observation but it works at others.
more baseline and house music should be added also bugzy malone should have a longer set
Loved the festival, great mix of music and very family friendly.
Excellent weekend! Looking forward to booking next year 😊
Great venue wutj sone decent tents and live acts. Although the amount of dance tents and bars was a little OTT and perhaps attracts a younger crowd. the indie disco and Manchester music was excellent as was Tims DJ sets. Whilst i applaud your war on plastic charging ﾃつ｣2 for a small can of water or pop and ﾃつ｣5 for a can of red stripe was ridiculously over priced! The food wss very varied but also expensive in the arena, ﾃつ｣7 for a slice of pizza, must have to cover a hefty cost of the pitch! Toilets were pretty festival standard really, wod benefit from more around the camp sites it wasa long walk in the middle of the night from tje tent in the dark and massive queues in the arena. The main campsite was in a bit of a state by saturday morning and would probably benefit from a bit more governance, plenty of bins just not used. Glad we decided to carry on walking a bit further to a different site, great holmes was virtually full by Friday 10am!
Its an expesive do especially when paying for all the extras like showers, loos, charging stations etc, shame you cant pay for these extras on the monthly scheme because this is a great option. It had quite a 90s vibe this year with Shed 7 James and OCS, shame you didn't get LG instead of the Libertines or the no show Run DMC? Overall i had a great weekend, expensive as it was, shame you cant do anythong about the weather it knows how to rain in this part of the world! Not sure if i will go again next year, id love to try the Deer Lodge area but we could go abroad for 2 weeks all inclusive for less! ﾃｰﾂ淞伉ｮ
Second year at Kendal, great again, a little disappointed in some of the music choices but all round great yet again
