About

Caleb Laurenson and Danny P go back to back for an extended set in the Joshua Brooks basement on 9th May. Two producers whose shared studio work has landed on Defected Records, now stepping up together behind the decks on Princess Street.

The pair's remix of Nick Curly's Underground dropped on Defected in March 2026, a rework of the 2012 original that sat alongside a Dennis Ferrer remix as a genuine record box staple. Their version flips the soulful groove into something bouncier and harder-hitting, and it's already been turning up in sets from Monki, Solardo, and across the Defected Radio catalogue. It follows their remix of DJ Zinc's Show Me on Bingo Bass in late 2025, another collaboration that caught the right ears at the right time.

Liverpool's Caleb Laurenson has built serious momentum over the past year. With over 600,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and airplay across BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM, his shift from commercial electronic into a grittier underground sound has been one of the more convincing pivots in recent memory. His solo release Beautiful Thing landed on TSZR earlier this year, the same label home to LF SYSTEM, Jansons, and Catz 'n Dogz. He's picked up consistent support from Chris Stussy, Kettama, Obskür, and Robbie Doherty along the way.

Danny P has been on a parallel trajectory out of Dublin. His collaboration with Riordan, 909, dropped on REALM Records in January 2026 and made an immediate impact. A darker, more driving piece of work that came together during a late-night session and landed naturally in club sets around the world. His unreleased productions have been picked up by Peggy Gou, Gaskin, and Max Dean among others, and a Beatportal feature earlier this year mapped out a producer whose instincts behind the desk are sharpening fast.

What makes this B2B work is the chemistry. These two have been building tracks together for long enough that their musical shorthand is second nature. The Defected remix didn't happen by accident. An extended set gives them room to stretch that dynamic across a full night.

The Void Acoustics rig under the bricked arches at Joshua Brooks is built for this kind of energy. Low ceilings, close walls, and a sound system that rewards producers who understand weight and detail. When the bass hits right in that basement, you feel it in your chest before you hear it through the speakers.
