THE PUBLIC EYE
“The pressures of constantly being in The Public Eye are too much for some…”
Armed to the teeth with invigoration and well-intentioned juvenile malice, The Public Eye come crawling out of the gaps in the post-post-industrial Midland landscape.
Lulled to sleep by The Strokes and Bloc Party in their infancy and now following the light lit by Fontaines and The Night Cafe in their adolescence, day by day The Public Eye are evolving and developing their own cutthroat sound.
Their latest offering ‘The Wire’ swings a pick axe into the cliff face of current indie bands, dropping your standard teenage breakup song into a blender with some petrol and a Catherine wheel.
With their roots firmly planted in gritty post-punk and capturing their unique surroundings in a block of amber, The Public Eye cannot be ignored.
DOROTHY ELLA
Powerful female vocals and contagious positive energy, Dorothy Ella is a singer-songwriter based in the Midlands, UK. With a sound inspired by Jamiroquai, Dua Lipa and Tom Misch, her music is packed with heartfelt soul with a funky disco twist. This upbeat artist empowers her lyrics with self-worth and self-love that have been heavily influenced by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Jade Bird and Ella Fitzgerald.
Since 2017, Dorothy has been consistently releasing singles, receiving strong support and radio play from BBC introducing, including ‘All you say is no’ which was featured on BBC 6 music.
With her infectious energy, Dorothy Ella’s live shows are fun, vibrant and always leave you feeling uplifted!
MATT PEACH
"I would describe myself as a relentless songwriter ever striving for unattainable perfection. It’s nigh impossible for me to pin my genre down as I’m forever dabbling all over the shop; folk, punk, funk, soul, rock, reggae, motown, etc. I would call it “accessible rock”, though a friend fondly labelled my genre as “cork-sniffer singer songwriter” which I suppose is an accolade of the highest order!
Keeping with the tradition of using other people’s (frankly genius) quotes, my live show has been described as “a folk-punk assault on the senses, brimming with passion, angst and energy.” For me the most important thing about any show I play is that everyone leaves feeling a little better than when they walked in, otherwise what’s the point?"
