Buddy Curtess & The Grasshoppersfirst formed in 1983 and quickly became known for their incredible live shows, withTime Out naming them ‘Best Live Band’ for two years running.
Tours followed withRoy Orbison, The Beach Boys, The Cure
andThe Stranglersto name but a few. Playing over 250 gigs a year includingThe Prince’s Trust atWembley Arena and the main stage atGlastonburyin 1986 (with a liveBBC Radio 1 broadcast), which has been featured again recently as part ofBBC Radio 6Live ‘Sounds’.
The live performances attracted attention from TV shows and the band appeared onThe Tube, Saturday Night Live, Jools Holland’s Hogmanay, Razzamatazz, Saturday Super Storeand were the resident band forRuby Wax’s Don’t Miss WaxonChannel 4.
Record deals withPhonogram Recordssaw the release ofHello Suzie, ShoutandShoobee Baby as singles, which reached the UK charts.
