We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting none other thanTHE CONGOSfor a pre-carnival warm-up event!
The Jamaican vocal group is one of the last remaining in their original formation since the 1970s. Cedric Myton, Ashanti Roy, Watty Burnett, and Talash, the newest member, embody authentic Rastafarians who steadfastly adhere to their principles and roots, living in accordance with the image they project.
Their initial acclaim stemmed from the iconic album “Heart of the Congos,” recorded at Lee “Scratch” Perry’s renowned Black Ark studio. This album features timeless treasures of roots reggae, showcasing their vocal prowess on tracks like “La La Bam Bam,” “Open The Gate,” and “Congo Man.” Notably, the beloved “Fisherman” is hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the top ten reggae songs of all time.
They venture back into the studio to craft a fresh album slated for release in spring 2024, coinciding with an upcoming European tour with a stop at the Fox and Firkin.
