About

The St Michaels Sessions

First started as a fundraiser back in 2019, the first St Michaels Session launched an new and unlikely venue in the heart of a grade one listed church. the venue has since held multiple sessions and headline shows to great success. The Sessions offer an opportunity to see lots of high quality music in one evening, and maybe discover different artists in the process. This Novembers Session will be the last of the year.

me + deboe

Established acoustic duo me + deboe transcend genre to deliver a range of emotive performances driven by poignant lyrics and powerful riffs.

Energetic and Intricate compositions, coupled with a fresh approach to cover interpretations, have captivated audiences across the UK, Europe and USA, redefining and elevating acoustic music.

They encapsulate what it means to be a duo: Blending rhythmic folk musings with delicately woven harmonies. This year, Mercy Elise and Sarah Deboe have delivered their unique approach to arrangement and composition into the world of theatre, musical directing for StoryHouse, which received high praise from The Guardian, The stage and The North West End.

“It will be exciting to hear where me and deboe take us next on their musical journey. This talented duo has much to offer with their unique sound and should certainly be on your radar – they aren’t one to miss.” Liverpool Noise, 2022

“Music as impactful as this doesn’t come along often.. This music duo have to be seen to be believed” Alan O'Hare

Bright Town

Bright Town was born of five Liverpool-based songwriters and their shared love of vocal harmony and melodic interplay. Unsatisfied with the offerings of the local scene, they embarked upon a rigorous schedule of writing, recording and rehearsing during late 2020, aiming to create for themselves what they could not find elsewhere. Despite starting out as a recording project, the live band came together naturally during the recording of their debut self-titled EP and instantly began to make waves in the the city in the summer of 2021 - supporting Mick Head & The Red Elastic Band at a sold-out hometown show and attracting the interest of several local labels. The band followed this over the subsequent months with other sold out shows supporting the likes of Jamie Webster and Hushtones, an appearance at Sound City Festival, as well as a sell out headline show at The Kazimier.

As the band's live shows continued to impress, they continued to keep one eye and ear firmly focused on the songwriting core that had remained active since the beginning. Applying their unique and umistakeably Mersey-tinged pop sensibilities to influences as diverse as Folk, Krautrock, Lo-Fi, Gypsy Jazz and beyond, the band’s sophomore EP began to take shape as they headed into 2022. Entitled Smithereens!, and recorded with ex-Peach Fuzz frontman Nathaniel Cummings at Yawn Studios, this offering displays the band at simultaneously their most diverse and yet accessible.
The EP's release was supported by sold out shows alongside Trudy and The Romance, The Sway and their first trip to mainland Europe to play Blåfrost Festivalen in Norway.
Marvin Powell
Becoming Merseyside’s most unique and hauntingly honest disarming folk styled singer-songwriters, Marvin Powell has earned the love and respect of fans and hugely influentialpeers alike having released a number of singles and EPs ulimating in his debut album ‘Dust Of The Day’ in 2019.

After numerous tour supports with The Coral, She Drew The Gun and legends The FairportConvention and gained fans from 6Music’s Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne and Radio 1’s Jericho Keys, it's been a labour of love and emotional journey for Marvin, who has slowly been developing a second album written at his home in West Kirkby.
‘Careless By The Coast’ , the follow up to ‘Dust Of The Day’ , was recorded over two years with Tim Cunningham (The Sundowners, Jamie Webster, The Lightning Seeds) engineering and producing, offering an honest reflection of what was going on during a period in Marvin’s life.
