Sheela is a representation of our ancient mother Goddess, a symbol of wild feminine power and the cycles of life. On the 20th March, the spring equinox, we will gather for a night of wild dancing in her honour. The suppression of the Goddess has taken place for long enough- it’s time for her to rise.
Starting at 8pm a Céilí with Liverpool’s celebrated traditional dance band, Saltcutters.
Red City Disco’s DJ’s ELJA & Theo will spin us some banging tunes whilst we set up;
Baque Luar, a London based 9 piece female and non-binary collective united by their love of Brazilian and Afro-Brazilian roots music. Baque Luar, meaning ‘moonlit beat’ is an ongoing exploration of feminine rhythmic creativity.
Our last live band, travelling over from the wilds of West Clare, MegaTrad are ‘a force of a tribal nature’, they blend Traditional Irish music with bass, beats and pedal FX boards to create euphoric dance music. Their sets are based on improvisation, the more we dance, the wilder they get. Liverpool, are you ready? It’s gonna go off!
Finishing the night, we’ll have a set from Liverpools own Charlie Power b2b with Gullyteen.
Charlie is a producer who infuses traditional world music with razor sharp drum and bass & jungle. With a focus on ancient tribal rhythms and shamanic chants, he’s aiming to take the dancefloor back to its primal roots. Gullyteen produces mad hard rave songs that will make you say ‘’ey that’s mad that’’- flavoursome smashers from the scouse genre bender.
