Beaumont Shopping Centre Leicester

Creepy crawlies, scuttling spiders and beautiful butterflies are the stars of Beaumont’s free Mini Beasts event which arrived at the shopping centre this week.

For the next four weeks, an area of Beaumont will be home to a bug-inspired play area where children are invited to explore and learn more about the natural world.

Each Thursday, Beaumont’s expert ‘Mini Beast Man’ will also be running a range of free interactive critter-inspired activities for kids from bug sun catcher craft sessions to ladybird house building.

On these days, families can also take part in the Creepy Crawly Trail, a hunt around the centre’s stores for hidden creatures. Mini explorers will be equipped with a magnifying glass and trail sheet and treated to goodies once they have completed the trail.

All activities will take place in the mall between 11am and 4pm.

Simon Revill, centre manager at Beaumont, said: “Our Mini Beasts event is a great family day out whatever the weather. Not only will the kids have a great time, they’ll learn lots while doing so. We can’t wait to see all the fun our Mini Beast Man brings.”

The full detailed list of activities is as follows:

• 1st August – Bug House Building – Craft session where kids can build homes for the mini beasts in their garden
• 8th and 22nd August – Mini Beast Man hosts a ‘meet and greet’ event with a range of creepy crawlies
• 15th August – Bug Sun Catchers – Craft session to make colourful bug-friendly sun catchers
