Review of State of Satta & friends - Late Night Take Over!

really sorry to say that after following State of Satta for 18 months and seeing them live several times that we were disappointed with this gig. The venue was great. Small, excellent ,chilled atmosphere.  The band didn't perform anywhere near their usual standard..singer flat vocals ,out of tune and appeared to sound like he couldn't be bothered to hit the high notes and was dropping an octave.  Maybe he wasnt getting good feedback on his ear phones....dont know. Base was so loud coming through the speakers that it was distorted and buzzy. Too much as it drowned out the brass section completely. Real shame cos we love this band, the music and the guys themselves are lovely. Maybe just an off night but I must be honest.

Truly wonderful gig at a fantastic venue.

Review of Fyfe Dangerfield

What a fabulous gig! One of my favourite ever (for any artist).

The intimate venue led to a really warm atmosphere, with plenty of friendly interaction between Fyfe and the audience. 

After getting ideas of what everyone wanted to hear, he pulled together a set list which was perfect for the evening. A great mix of old and new. He's an exceptional musician and he adapted the oldies in a way which respected the original but gave it a slightly different twist using other instruments. As Brett Anderson said, "if you want to hear it like it is on the CD, what are you doing here- just sit at home and listen to it theret". 

His improvisation was masterful - warm and entertaining - not harsh and random. My goodness, even just a tinkle on the piano as he settled in was beautiful, and definitely enhanced by the acoustics of the venue and the warm respect he commanded as everyone listened.

Well done to Moth Events for making this happen, and to The Attic for the great venue!

This was another lovely evening, with the singers working hard to give their best performance of a challenging programme. The richness of tone produced in the first piece was truly excellent and the encore was delivered with foot-stomping enthusiasm. I loved it! 

I thought it a very strange choice of venue and it can't have been easy to sing or see the conductor, Lizzie, given the low ceiling and that she was standing a long way back and it was quite dark. But Lizzie led with her usual infectious enthusiasm. There were perhaps a few too many folk songs for my liking, but that's personal taste. This unauditioned choir always puts on a great show.
