Introduction - The Recital of Maia Baratashvili

Maia Baratashvili has been performing internationally for over 30 years, with extensive experience collaborating with Georgian Jazz (Tbilisi Big Band), symphony orchestras, her jazz trio, and internationally acclaimed musicians.For this special evening, Maia will present an intimate and cosy recital, accompanying herself on piano. The programme blends American jazz classics with Georgian music, creating a warm “tête-à-tête” atmosphere where she shares personal stories and defining moments from her artistic journey.

The repertoire includes works by renowned composers such as Gene de Paul, Hoagy Carmichael, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Billie Holiday, Stephen Sondheim, David Foster, and Consuelo Velázquez, as well as prominent Georgian composers such as Bidzina Kvernadze, Revaz Laghidze, and Varinka Tsereteli.The audience will also have the opportunity to engage with the artist through questions and discussion during the performance.The recital will be conducted in English and is open to an international audience.This is a charity concert organised by the Georgian Cultural Centre “Keria” at St. Maximus the Confessor Orthodox Church, together with the Georgian Diaspora in Ireland, with the support of the Embassy of Georgia in Ireland.

The event aims to raise funds for the purchase of an Orthodox church and a Georgian cultural space in Ireland.
