by Robin Quinn
Downriver is an emotive installation art exhibition by multidisciplinary artist, Robin Quinn. The exhibition incorporates film, sound, and sculptural elements to create an immersive experience. The works include a filmed performance, in which the subject lies submerged in a river, dressed in a suit allowing the water to overwhelm them. Accompanying this is a sculpture of the artist's head, cast in resin. The form is lit and softly glowing. A fallen tree hangs floating in the space, with a poem carved into the branch. Each element of this exhibition combines to create a narrative surrounding gender identity, the transience of nature and its connection to the artist's sense of self
Is taispeántas suiteála mothúchánach é Downriver leis an ealaíontóir ildisciplíneach Robin Quinn. Cuimsíonn an taispeántas eilimintí scannánaíochta, fuaime agus dealbhóireachta chun eispéireas tumthach a chruthú. Áirítear ar na saothair físeán ina luíonn an t-ealaíontóir faoi uisce in abhainn, gléasta i gculaith agus é ag ligean don uisce é a shárú. Ina theannta sin, tá dealbh de cheann an ealaíontóra, teilgthe i roisín. Tá an dealbh soilsithe agus lonraíonn sí go bog. Tá crann tite ar crochadh sa spás, agus dán snoite ina bhrainsí. Tagann gach eilimint den taispeántas seo le chéile chun scéal a insint faoi fhéiniúlacht inscne, neamhbhuanúlacht an nádúir agus an nasc idir an nádúr agus féinmhothúchán an ealaíontóra.
