The University of Cumbria’s Brampton Road campus in Carlisle is the creative home of our Institute of the Arts. This is a special place for the study, practice and enjoyment of arts and culture, and it has been so since the Carlisle College of Art first opened on the site in 1950. Here you will also find the Stanwix Theatre and the Vallum Gallery. Our Degree Show and the gallery itself have just been announced as a finalist for the Carlisle Living 2019 Awards as the Art & Culture Initiative of the Year and we hold exhibitions by students as well as internationally acclaimed artists.
