John Hegley -
One of Britain’s most recognisable faces in the world of poetry, John Hegley has been sharing his unique outlook on the world through poetry and song across five decades. His work reflects his often comedic take on subjects as diverse as dogs, deckchairs, glasses, potatoes, guillemots and more. He has performed at numerous poetry festivals, folk festivals, Edinburgh Fringe and made several appearances at Glastonbury. John lives in Hackney in London and is a supporter of Luton Town FC. He has published over a dozen poetry collections, written books for children and in 2021 ‘A Scarcity Of Biscuit - pieces drawn largely from the letters, life and laughter of John Keats’ was published by Carlisle’s very own Caldew Press.
Errant Thieves:
a four-piece band from Penrith playing rootsy music on guitar, ukes, stand-up bass, fiddle, mandolin and more! Vocal harmonies are at the centre of what they do. Their songs include homespun numbers with some traditonal material and quirky covers thrown in. Plenty of warm-hearted banter and a few tall stories often accompany their performances. They have been known to share a stage with poet, John Hegley backing him on some of his rather excellent songs. For details and releases:
