An excellent event with some very tasty samples. Very good beer tent with Prosecco bar, ****tail bar, Pimms bar & real ale, by the bottle. A good selection of Chillie plants on sale. Excellent food stalls including Mexican, a wood-fired pizza oven. a Chipstyx stall-very novel food- & much more. The traders were very friendly & made everyone feel welcome
We took the train from Preston to Penrith, 50 mins & around £13 return. Taxi from Station to Dalemain a tenner. We walked back along the very busy road into Penrith & had an excellent meal at the Dog Beck Weatherpoon pub. The nicest 'Spoons we've visited. Penrith is a very friendly town with a local couple going out of their way to give us much needed directions back to the train station. We rounded off the day with a couple of drinks in the Station Pub. Very friendly staff. A very good day out was had by all!

Review of The Lakes Chilli Festival

Good music, tasty food and great atmosphere. Lots of stalls to look at including sauces and seasoning, oils and vinegars, cakes and sweet treats, and plants and growing equipment. Plenty of different food and drink vans to choose from, and live music in the main tent. Brilliant!

Great stalls, lots of different ideas with chilli, some stalls had very similar  items for sale but amazingly all tasted different.  It got a bit crowded round some of the stalls during mid day on Saturday so tasting became harder to get near the stalls, perhaps this could be considered when allocating the stalls that tasting experiences are interspersed with non tasting where possible and that the more popular stalls can go on the ends so customers can approach from 2 sides. Ps take lots of cash I spent loads of money!

Good selection of chilli related stalls.The elvis guy was good fun who was followed by the fiery chilli eating competition.
All in all its a good way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon.

At least it didn't rain this year but bloody cold. Good event and will return next year. Only down side was too many stalls selling similar products.

We all really enjoyed the day. Such a shame this could not have been co ordinated with the other festival on the same day in Penrith centre. This would have doubled visitors for the stalls and boosted sales and  the atmosphere 

I would recommend it, but it would have been nice to see more entertainment. And to have the stalls spread across the field rather than in one spot. But I still enjoyed it and would recommend it to someone 

First time I have attended this and a very pleasant day out in a beautiful setting. There were quite a few interesting stalls and the sellers were all friendly. Toilet provision was adequate (important to me). The tickets were reasonably priced and had the added bonus of allowing access to the gardens at Dalemain, which are gorgeous. The only thing I would score it down on was the cost of some of the produce - my husband was particularly disappointed that no one was selling seeds and he was unwilling to pay a minimum of £10 (rising to about £18) for a chilli plant so we left the festival without any purchases. 

Very good and Saturday was very luck with the weather . I will come next year
