Sharpy68 Offline Points:106 Posts: 3 | swr arrived at the venue at the initial advertised time, to find the running order had been changed, Shaun was to be on stage at 0100, as opposed to the initial advertised time of 2000-2300 (these times suited me because I have 2 children and had to make arrangements around them)so I was not best pleased, especially as I had shelled out for four tickets, I even confirmed these arrangements both on-line and by phone, the biggest disappointment for me was not seeing the gig, as I've followed the Mondays and Ryder since the mid-late eighties and am a massive fan. | ||||||||||||||

We had tickets, not guestlist and as we approached we joined a que that was by the front door. Turned out this was not the entrance for tickets but a bit of a concealed doorway halfway down the street. When we got inside we didn't really know where to go, we went down stairs towards the cloakroom, we didn't need this so decided to go upstairs. We went all the way to the top and found a locked door! We went back down to the middle floor where some funky electro was being spun. We got served fast and had a dance, I really liked this floor, it had a good vibe and good music. We decided go for a wonder around the club, and got sort of horribly lost. We follow a few people walking to the middle through some orange doors but this just looked like it was heading to the toilets so we went back out the way we came. We went down a floor and through the next open door, turns out this was the stage door and I'd just walked onto the stage! Ooops! So we dropped down towards the cloakroom again. These narrow corridors actually lead through to the main room after a little bit of up and down stairs. All quite confusing. We got into the main room and some good music was was being played. We had a dance and waited for Shaun Ryder to begin. We had a great spot near the front of the stage, but it quickly got very very busy as the on stage time approached. Big cheers as SWR appeared and began with some of his new material. The crowd was fifty fifty with it. Some getting right into anything being played others more reserved and probably waiting for some of the Mondays tracks. There were some sound problems but this was resolved in the first song or so. Black Grape came on and it jumped up a notch. They were pretty good. Enjoyed them more than the SWR material. The set was finished off with two classic Mondays tracks and the crowd went nuts for them. I was a little disappointed that there was only two tracks. I don't think I was alone as a few people in the crowd were wanting more from The Happy Mondays catalogue. The toilets were a bit of a shambles and my girlfriend was made to pay for soap by the attendant which was a little souring. The decor looks a little tatty in places for a new venue, but we will be going again. As we qued we looked at the booked artists and there were a few that caught our eye | ||||||||||||||

Ground floor was pathetic. We got there early and even after an hour on that floor you couldn't move anywhere so our group avoided all night. The second floor atmosphere was a bit more promising but full of mongs with no regard for other human beings shoving and pushing. The third floor was pretty much empty but the atmosphere in there was loads better. You could dance and have great banter with people! It was overall far too busy, the bouncers were all on a power trip and the ground floor was a massive disappointment. This isn't isolated to this event however, it's like this (so i hear) all the time in the factory. Sort it out!! | ||||||||||||||

Willum Offline Points:172 Posts: 1 | Among the worst nights out I've ever had Overall rating: A promising line-up for a fair price. However, N-Type (who was easily the most skilled DJ on the lineup) was on ridiculously early; this contributed to the extreme irritation of having to queue in a number of separate queues outside, whilst constantly being hassled by ****head bouncers. Upon getting in I was quickly thrown out for no apparent reason by another intensely friendly bouncer. Having re-entered the club (although, it should be noted, this was not after any invite from the bouncers) I found it packed full of sweaty drunks with little to no consideration of anyone else's space. The venue itself was terrible: boasting a Funktion 1 system, but barely using it to full capacity, the sound wasn't great; queues are a necessity for not only the awkwardly positioned toilets but also to use the overly-narrow stairs (whilst being shouted at by yet more self-righteous bouncers to keep moving); the layout of the place is, in general, poorly thought out. Terrible club, bouncers worse than those famed at Area51 and an uninviting crowd encourage little more than an early night. | ||||||||||||||

Upon getting to the front of the cue the bouncer decided he didnt want us all their so tried to pass it off as we were pushing in and threw us all to the back.was an absolute joke, i was on my way home when the skiddle guy grabbed us, seeing what happened and got us in. Was over max capasity for sure,i thought it would have turned into a riot it was that packed! the only upside was nero tore it down!venue was crap,everyone crammed into the mian room for the main acts,as they would, bt i guess they calculate the max capasity over the 3 floors, i dnt think many people even knew about the other floors- | ||||||||||||||

Thought the venue was awful, The bouncers had a attitude problem. Buying tickets online were pointless meaning we had to queue for ages while people who didnt have tickets got to go straight in.
