About

Live painting, clowning and audio visual wonder - our first scratch night is not one to miss!

Presenting...

TRIP 7:45-8:30pm

Ever wanted an artist to bring a memory of yours to life in front of your eyes? You're in luck with our first scratch performer. TRIP will be picking a volunteer from the audience to tell them a story from their life - happy, sad, nostalgic, past or present - and they will paint along with your story, bringing it into vibrant colour on canvas. This is the debut of this artists live painting practice, and we're buzzing to see what stories you have to tell.

Rachel Barry 8:45-9:10pm

'Sad Sack and the mice that chewed her underwear'

For your viewing pleasure, artist Rachel Barry presents a new clowning improv sketch, sharing themes of shame, escapism, absurdity and sexuality. You'll be introduced to Sad Sack, Beans the scouse prin, dog tit man and a very depressed chef who becomes a tomato and regains his confidence and sexual libido. Crammed with opportunities for audience participation and sure to be full of laughs, this debut sketch is going to be one hell of a conversation starter at your next work's do.

Amina B 9:30-10pm

'my mum told me not to marry an athiest'

Using DJing, keyboard, drumming and spoken word Amina tries to navigate faith, spirituality and consciousness in a world consumed by the dunya. Presenting a restaging of her R&D project with Contact Theatre, Amina will suck you into her world and freshen up this exciting piece of theatre and spoken word spectacle like never before.

About Scratch:

Taking place on the last Thursday of every month until April 2025, Short Supply's Scratch Nights at Mirage Bar offer a monthly dedicated space for live artists and performers to test out new and developing ideas.

These events are a chance for creatives to show their stuff in front of a live and supportive audience, with a social afterwards to network and receive feedback!

The vibe will always be informal, and you'll get a unique look into the world of local artists, watching them test ideas in real time, experiment, take risks and share their new work with peers and the public. You'll have the opportunity to network with artists and guests and contribute your ideas and feedback to help performers develop.

There will be three performances at each event from 8-9:30pm and a social with DJs from 10-11pm.

Mirage Bar is a fully wheelchair accessible venue via a permanent ramp and has an accessible indoor toilet.
