About

Six years into book shop discos, we welcome our first volume ll & the return of North West legend & pioneer, Derek Kaye.

Derek's DJing career spans an impressive 50 years, which started out at the tender age of 11. Building his own light rigs & twin deck set ups, to work as a mobile DJ. This grew into offers for residencies & appearances on line ups of a burgeoning Jazz/Funk scene. His resume is full of iconic clubs & events, from Wigan Pier to Festival No#6. Recent work has include studio enigeering, production & mastering for the Super Weird Science label.

In support we have Simba, Yadava & Andy Parkinson.

Proud Prestonian, Simba, is a collector, selector, DJ & producer. He's played at Sankey's, Beatherder & supported the likes of Marshall Jefferson.

His productions on labels such as Shadeleaf, Hot Peas n Butter & Quintessentials have received great acclaim from fellow artists, like The Blessed Madonna, Dimitri From Paris, Marcel Vogel, Mr Scruff & Larry Heard, to name just a few.

Former child of Southport, Yadava can now be found residing in Manchester & part of the crew holding the All Kids Of Joy nights in the city center, providing all kinds of disco, jazz, funk & modern soul goodness. He's had original releases on Omena Records, Church & edits released on High Praise. He also holds down the 'Expansions' show on NTS Radio alongside co-host Contours.

Unsurprisingly Andy Parkinson gets the call again, cursed nepotism.

Shop Rules

We please ask you treat the shop, the stock & artefacts with love & respect.
Most importantly be aware of our patient & generous neighbours, on entering, enjoying the surroundings & when it comes to home time.
If there is an accident or incident please let Andy or one of the staff know, there will be no judgement or condemnation, we just want a smooth event. Any disrespectful, rowdy or uncool behaviour, you will be asked to leave.

Drink Policy

Unfortunately the shop doesn't have a bar, yet, so you are more than welcome to bring your own liquid refreshments. Cups, ice, fresh lemon & lime will be provided.
All we ask, is that you be aware of your waste, cigarette butts & sticky used cups.

Last Entry

Will be a firm 7pm, we want to get lost in the shop vibe too :)
