Established in 2017, we’ve had an array of comedy names, including Taskmaster and Britain’s Got Talent contestants, stars from Ricky Gervais’ ‘Derek’, and big screen names like Dave Johns ('Fishermen’s Friends', 'I, Daniel Blake') and Brett Goldstein ('Ted Lasso'). In addition, we've welcomed numerous comedians from popular panel shows like Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Would I Lie to You?, as well as a plethora of guests from BBC’s legendary 'Live at the Apollo’.

💥 RACHEL FAIRBURN

London-based Rachel has been a finalist in numerous prestigious competitions, including Funny Women, City Life Comedian of the Year, the NATYS, and English Comedian of the Year. She was featured in Chortle’s ‘One to Watch’ list in 2020 and received the 2019 online content award from Joe.co.uk. Co-host and co-writer of the popular podcast All Killa No Filla, Rachel has garnered a massive international following of over a quarter of a million listeners. She's taken the podcast on sell-out UK tours and a successful USA tour. A regular on the UK stand-up circuit, Rachel has had six critically acclaimed solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2014, and TV credits include: BBC Presents: Stand Up For Live Comedy and Funny Festival Live, Live at the Apollo, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Richard Osman’s House of Games, Pointless Celebrities, and Russell Howard Hour Life Lessons.

Danny Ward's humour is up-beat and well honed, and his easy-going style both endearing and very funny. One of the new breed of comics with a high energy set not reliant on smut or swearing, Danny started comedy in late 2008 and has since established himself as comic to watch. His observational humour and his slightly manic style are both endearing and very funny. He can turn the everyday trials that we all experience into piercingly well dissected anecdotes of exasperation and obsession – with wonderfully hilarious solutions. Danny has performed worldwide in over 16 countries and taken six solo shows to the Edinburgh Comedy Festival with great success, most notably winning the prestigious Amused Moose Peoples Champion Award for best show.

Our compere and your host for Stand in The Basement, Colin Owens, is an award-winning stand-up comedian, who has worked with Jimmy Carr, the teams behind The Inbetweeners and Mighty Boosh. Described as ‘laconic and charming’, Colin talks about his failings, inadequacies, mistakes and general stupidity, all tinged with an air of paranoia and insecurity, but delivered with supreme confidence and sexual edginess!

📅WHEN:Stand Up in the Basement is a once-a-month comedy night, always on the last Tuesday of the month.

🕗TIMINGS:We aim to kick off the show at 8pm. There'll be an opening act, short break, two rising acts in the shorter middle section, another break, and we'll finish up with the headliner. The show typically finishes around 10.30pm. The bar downstairs will be open before and after the show, and the upstairs bar will be open during the intervals.
