Enter the Magical World of Maui Waui… Norfolk’s Friendliest Festival! August Bank Holiday 27-29th August 2021 The Maui Waui Festival has been bringing the world music, performance & arts to a sleepy Suffolk village for the last 8 years and has become one of the most exciting and uniquely creative festivals in East Anglia, attracting around 5,000 people. NEW for 2021 – this year the festival is going to be held at Hill Farm, near Dereham in Norfolk within a stunning location of ancient meadowland and woodland. The festival has 6 stages and will now open on the Thursday night so 4 nights and 3 days of entertainment including the Scottish legends, Peatbog Faeries who will be flying in from the Isle of Sky for a special one-off headline show and the Dub Pistols - a hardened festival band who headline some of the biggest festivals in the country. Goldie Lookin Chain will headline the dance tent with their comical wake of the rap scene. Over 100 bands and acts will be performing this year! New for 2021 is the creation of the Electronic Dance area ‘The Outer Limits’ where you’ll find a collection of space themed sound systems with world class DJ’s from Banco De Gaia to Chris Liberator and EZ Rollers. This new dance area will be filled with detailed immersive décor, including a newly constructed, huge stainless steel UFO shaped DJ Stage. On Sunday the festival has an Americana Theme with a special stage hosting some of the countries leading performers of Country, Blues, Bluegrass and American Folk music, including the legendary Hank Wangford and the exciting, energetic international bluegrass band, Flats and Sharps. Maui Waui is so much more than just the music; this unique festival boasts a full Circus tent with workshops, displays and shows throughout the whole weekend. Circus acts also happen throughout the weekend, in between the acts on the stages. Take a walk to the Living Art Tent and watch this amazing creative UK body painting competition. This is where human bodies become blank canvases for the talented body artists who spend the weekend creating their themed paintings, ready for a grand cat-walk show on Saturday on the Main Stage. Definitely not to be missed! Maui Waui is a family friendly festival. Children 13yr and under go FREE! The festival has a huge kids area with a full weekend of free activities throughout the event, including wacky racing, craft sessions, bouncy castles, bubble craft, storytelling and lots more. The little ones will love what’s on offer and have full supervision within the special children’s area. This festival really does have something for everyone, its one of East Anglia’s best kept secrets. Don’t miss this years exciting program of entertainment. Some of the arenas at the festival include: Main Stage (in the Big Top) - Electro Swing, Folk, Funk, Soul, Reggae, Rock and more World Music Café Stage World music from around the globe, expect late night Flamenco shows, traditional Reggae, live African music, folk music and dance. The Americana Stage (Sunday) hosting the special Americana Day on 29th Aug. ‘The Outer Limits’ Space-themed DJ dance tent (Electro, Techno, Trance) with amazing interior. Flavour Parlour Stage (from Glastonbury) showcasing some of the best live music in the UK. The Living Art Show talented body artists and their models, culminating with a not-to-be-missed, body art parade on the main stage on Saturday. Plus 2 extra DJ Stages. Creativity, art and extravagant décor is at the heart of Maui Waui. Months of creative work go into the event, both before the event and on site, ensuring that its 6 venues and many attractions really look the part. This attention to detail is what really sets this event apart from other small festivals, along with the colourful and vibrant folk who attend, all of which makes for an electric atmosphere on the site. The festival is proud to have a green policy, recycling 80 % of all rubbish on site. They use Solar energy to power the lighting around the site and have ethical trading and food standards plus only charge their food & drink vendors reasonable rates to keep refreshments affordable. Every year Maui Waui raises money for local charities with charity auctions and other events.
