Formed as an experimental group in 1997, Rastak are one of the most well-known exponents of Iranian folk music.
Through merging traditional instruments and forms with contemporary rhythms and incorporating language , culture and history , the group seeks to collect, record and interpret Iranian folk music for a global audience.
In Farsi ‘Rastak’ means a newly born plant that grows at the bottom of a tree. Creating something stronger than what came before, Rastak the music group uses the roots of their history and culture to connect with audiences internationally.
