About

Don't get mad get everything!

Join Make A Scene for an interactive screening of the 90s camp classic with added drag queens, champagne, singing in the street and sisterly solidarity.

The First Wives Club is a fabulous favourite featuring knockout performances from the best and most iconic comedy actresses ever including Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, Sarah Jessica Parker, Stockard Channing and even Dame Maggie Smith. When one of their sorority sisters commits suicide due to loneliness and being left on the scrap heap by her ex-husband three friends club together (literally) to make sure no first wife is ever forgotten again.

Make A Scene present a full screening of the film for one night only in the immersive surroundings of Manchester's own mental health space come community hub Feel Good Club who have been at the forefront of connection and positivity through these tough times. There'll be themed food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) throughout and the screening encourages quoting-a-long to your favourite lines and is hosted with comedy commentary by Make A Scene host Gary James Williams.

Oh, wait, of course that's not it. The stars of the show! Gary will be joined by not one, not two but three co-hosts...well it had to be! The First Wives Club themselves, drag queen superstars Lill, Monopoly Phonic and Beau Blonde will be welcoming you to the club as Bette Midler, Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn themselves. We're going to need more lip filler!

And then there's you. We need you to come dressed in white to help us recreate the famous end scene where guests are dressed all in white to celebrate the launch of the First Wives Club and dance out into the street singing the empowering anthem "You Don't Own Me"

So dress in white for a strictly one show one night unique screening, there's very limited seats so get your tickets and we'll see you there!

DRESS CODE: Dress in white

Doors: 7pm

Screening starts: 7.30pm

The venue is accessible for wheelchair users with ramp access in and out and clear passing spaces through the venue. The venue is equipped with an accessible toilet.

The event is all seated, no standing and there is a quieter space at the back should this be needed but the event does include music, audience interaction (make yourself known to a member of our team if you do not want to be spoken to) singing along and audience shouting out and talking throughout the film. There will be flashing lights (disco style) but no strobe lights during the performance.

We ask attendees to take a covid test before the event and not attend if they have symptoms. If you want to or have to wear a mask at the event then please do, please be assured this won't be commented by the performers or team.
