Judith has retired from life on stage, but she still misses the applause. At the Blisses’ country home, her husband David and their children Sorrel and Simon are too self-involved to provide the audience she wants.

When Judith invites a young fan to stay for the weekend, each member of the family has a guest arriving at the same time. With everyone ill suited to hosting and unwilling to compromise, the house quickly falls into chaos.
