About Trainspotting - the musical
Trainspotting - the musical at Haymarket, London is a new stage musical based on Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting. Written by Irvine Welsh with music and lyrics by Stephen McGuinness and Irvine Welsh, and directed and developed by Caroline Jay Ranger, it brings the story to the West End stage with an ensemble cast and a live band.
The show features some of the electrifying tracks from the film alongside original songs. Characters including Renton, Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud, Tommy and Kelly return in a production that combines familiar material with new music.
Thirty years on from the film, this is presented as a new musical version of the story rather than a straight revival.
Running time: 2 hours, including a 20-minute interval. Age guidance: 15+.
