Trainspotting - the musical at Haymarket, London, brings Irvine Welsh’s world to the West End stage thirty years on from the film that changed everything. Written by Irvine Welsh, with music and lyrics by Stephen McGuinness and Irvine Welsh, and directed and developed by Caroline Jay Ranger, it presents the story of the outsiders and rebels from the original work in musical form.
The show features Renton, Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud, Tommy and Kelly, alongside an ensemble cast and a live band. It combines tracks from the film with original songs.
The production is described as a new musical with a defiant tone and is set to a live score of familiar music and new material.
