DEEP-HEAT RIVALRY at The Other Palace is a new parody set in the high-stakes world of professional ice hockey. It follows sworn enemies Shane Hollandaise and Ilya Stroganoff, two star players whose on-ice clashes are matched by a secret relationship neither is ready to face.
Written and directed by Oliver-nominated Trevor Ashley, the show brings together locker-room drama, forbidden romance, parody songs and comedy that is openly unglamorous about sport. The score ranges from power ballad to party pop, and the production includes full-frontal nudity.
Built around rivalry, attraction and theatrical excess, the piece plays its hockey premise for comedy rather than realism.
