Selma Uamusse
Selma Uamusse is a Mozambican vocalist who has lived in Portugal since the 1980's. She explores the roots of her country of origin, using Mozambican rhythms and lyrics in native languages, using traditional instruments such as timbila and mbira, combining everything with electronics and other references that mirror her diverse influences.
Her debut album, 'Mati' (2018), which translates as "water" was widely praised as was her second release 'Liwoningo' (2020), which translates as "light". Produced by Guilherme Kastrup, a Grammy-winning producer for Elza Soares, the album also features Bixiga 70.
Selma Uamusse has collaborated with Ana Bacalhau, Rita Redshoes, Marcia, The Legendary Tigerman, Luisa Sobral, Elisa Rodrigues, Gospel Collective, Samuel Úria, Medeiros / Lucas, Joana Barra Vaz, Moullinex, Orquestra Todos, WrayGunn, Cacique'97, Rodrigo Leão, and more.
