Mother Courage 26 at Shakespeare’s Globe is a new production of Bertolt Brecht’s anti-war masterpiece, Mother Courage and Her Children, staged at the Globe for the very first time. The story follows Mother Courage as she drags her cart through a world stripped bare by war, greed and conflict, trying to keep herself and her children alive.
This modern staging is translated by Anna Jordan and directed by Globe Associate Artist Elle While. It features live music, biting humour and a darkly hedonistic approach to a classic protest piece, with themes of survival, capitalism and complicity at its centre.
