Mother Courage 26 at Shakespeare’s Globe is a new production of Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children, marking the theatre’s first staging of Brecht. The play follows Mother Courage as she drags her cart through a world shaped by war, scarcity and greed, where survival comes at a cost.
Translated by Anna Jordan and directed by Globe Associate Artist Elle While, the production includes live music and biting humour. Globe Artistic Director Michelle Terry leads the cast in a story that raises questions about survival, capitalism and complicity through one of theatre’s most complex female characters.
The production is described as visceral, defiant and ferociously human, with the yard brought to life through fury, empathy and joy-as-rebellion.
Key facts: Brecht’s anti-war play is presented in a new translation by Anna Jordan, directed by Elle While, and features live music.
All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult and cannot be sat separately. No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase.
