Mother Courage 26 at Shakespeare's Globe brings Bertolt Brecht's anti-war masterpiece, Mother Courage and Her Children, to the Globe stage for the first time. Set in a world of war, scarce resources and hard choices, it follows Mother Courage as she drags her cart through a wasteland shaped by greed and conflict.
This modern production includes live music, biting humour and raw determination. It is translated by Anna Jordan and directed by Globe Associate Artist Elle While, with the performance shaped around questions of survival, capitalism and complicity.
Globe Artistic Director Michelle Terry leads the production as Mother Courage, in a staging described as darkly hedonistic and intensely human.
