This summer, Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost is presented as a flamenco-inspired new production. Set in Navarre, it follows four women arriving on a diplomatic mission and the King and his lords as their vows are tested by love, desire and wit.
The production marks Associate Artist Indiana Lown-Collins’s Globe Theatre directing debut. A former Globe Resident Artist and JMK Award winner for The Solid Life of Sugar Water at Orange Tree Theatre, she brings the warmth and vibrancy of her rural Spanish roots to this comedy.
Rarely staged, Love’s Labour’s Lost is described as a raw, refreshingly human comedy that moves between joy and revelry, longing, grief and melancholy, and leaves love unresolved.
Key facts: Summer production; flamenco-inspired staging; directed at the Globe Theatre by Associate Artist Indiana Lown-Collins; rarely staged Shakespeare comedy.
