Review of Carnival Playground

Went to Carnival Playground by Dreamland yesterday and overall had a really good time. The DJ lineup was strong, there was an excellent variety of music throughout the day, and the venue itself was lovely - especially with the outdoor area, which worked perfectly considering how hot the weather was.

However, the experience with one member of security unfortunately put a dampener on the day. When I first arrived and asked where the entrance was, he was rude, abrupt, and came across quite aggressively. He told me I couldn't come in because it was past the entry time, but there was no last entry time stated anywhere on my tick*t or confirmation email. Usually, events clearly specify this information on the tick*t itself or send a direct update beforehand.

Thankfully, after speaking with the organisers, they did allow me in, which I appreciated given I'd paid over £30 for the tick*t. I was later told they had posted the last entry time on Instagram, but realistically not everyone is checking social media updates on the day of an event. Important information like that should really be communicated directly via email or included on the tick*t to avoid confusion and unnecessary stress on arrival.

Unfortunately, the same security guard later approached me again inside the venue and rudely told me to put my "cigar" out. I explained and showed him that it was simply a cigarette in brown paper, but he still wasn't willing to listen, so I discarded it anyway. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and unpleasant.

It's a shame because everyone else, the atmosphere, the music, and the overall vibe were genuinely lovely. My only real criticism is that security staff should treat paying guests with more basic respect and manners. It's not hard to be kind and professional rather than trying to intimidate or bully people.
