About Stranger Things: The First Shadow

Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre in London takes audiences back to Hawkins in 1959, before the world turned upside down. Set before the events of Stranger Things, it follows young Jim Hopper, Bob Newby, Joyce Maldonado and Henry Creel as a fresh start in town begins to unravel.

Brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team, the production uses theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to return to the beginning of the Stranger Things story. It is a new adventure set in the same world, with the action rooted in the town’s early history and the arrival of Henry Creel.

Key facts: Approx 3 hrs including an interval. Accessible performances are scheduled on Sunday 20th September 2026 at 15:00 (BSL Interpreted), Sunday 27th September 2026 at 15:00 (Audio Described), Sunday 4th October 2026 at 15:00 (Captioned) and Sunday 6th December 2026 at 15:00 (Captioned).

Before you book

Recommended 12+. Under 5s are not permitted and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. The production contains gunfire audio, loud noises, explosions, haze, smoke, flashing lights and strobe, strong language, and depictions of mental health conditions and disorders.

The venue opens 90 minutes before the start time. Please arrive 30 minutes before the performance. Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable point, which may be the interval. No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase.
