About Stranger Things: The First Shadow

Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre is set in Hawkins in 1959, before the events of Stranger Things. The story follows a town with familiar worries: Jim Hopper’s car will not start, Bob Newby’s sister does not take his radio show seriously, and Joyce Maldonado wants to graduate and leave town.

When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family’s fresh start becomes more complicated and the shadows of the past begin to reach further into Hawkins. The production is brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team.

Running time: approximately 3 hours including an interval.

Before you book

Age guidance: recommended for ages 12 and above. Children under 5 are not permitted. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. The production contains gunfire audio, loud noises, explosions, haze, smoke, flashing lights and strobe, strong language, and depictions of mental health conditions and disorders.

Arrival and late entry: the venue opens 90 minutes before the start time. Please arrive 30 minutes before the performance. Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable point, which may be the interval.
