About

About One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a stage adaptation of Ken Kesey's novel, set inside a psychiatric facility in the 1970s. Chief Bromden has been silent for years, confined and defined by a system that labels, divides and forgets.

When Randle P. McMurphy arrives, his defiance unsettles the ward and begins to shift the balance of power under Nurse Ratched's rule. The patients, who have been stripped of their humanity, are forced to confront what it means to have a voice.

Adapted by Dale Wasserman and directed by Clint Dyer, this production presents the story through a staging that also draws attention to colonialism and the social structures built to silence dissent.

Key facts: Suitable for ages 14+. The production is staged in the round, and there may be moments that are less visible as actors move around the set.
