“Learning You” is a heartfelt dramedy inspired by true events, following Ty Smith, a struggling architect and father, as he embarks on an impulsive Christmas road trip with his autistic son, Elijah. Seven years after a traumatic family Christmas and the collapse of his marriage, Ty is faced with a choice: surrender Elijah to the state or fight for connection, healing, and hope. Along the way, Ty is haunted and hilariously helped by Elijah’s imaginary companion, a life-sized version of his beloved stuffed bear, Nook. What begins as a desperate act becomes a journey of rediscovery, reminding us that joy, like family, often shows up in unexpected places.
