The Smile of Her comes to the Marylebone Theatre in London from 10 July to 29 August 2026. Academy Award and Emmy winner Christine Lahti presents her acclaimed new play in a strictly limited run.
Funny, furious and deeply personal, this autobiographical work follows a woman’s journey from 1950s suburban America into a changing world. It explores family mythology, misogyny, ambition, motherhood and the pressure to be “a good girl”.
Performed by Lahti herself, the play is a direct look at the stories we inherit, the voices we silence and the effort to reclaim a sense of self.
Key facts: Running time 90 minutes, with no interval. Suitable for ages 12 and over.
