The Smile Of Her at the Marylebone Theatre is Christine Lahti’s new play, presented in London for a strictly limited run. Lahti, an Academy Award and Emmy winner, performs the work herself.
Described as funny, furious and deeply personal, the play follows one woman’s journey from 1950s suburban America into a changing world. It explores family mythology, misogyny, ambition, motherhood and the pressure of being “a good girl”.
As an autobiographical piece, The Smile Of Her focuses on the stories people inherit, the voices they silence and the struggle to reclaim themselves.
