The Children at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is Lucy Kirkwood’s gripping, darkly funny drama about survival, loyalty and responsibility to the next generation. Hazel and Robin are living on the edge of a radiation exclusion zone, trying to keep going through yoga, parsnip wine and routine after a catastrophe.
When their old friend Rose arrives, she brings buried memories, old secrets and a proposition that puts their carefully maintained normality under pressure. The play asks what people owe to the future, while staying grounded in the small details of life after disaster.
