Relics is at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in London. Ben Ockrent’s world premiere follows four siblings who reunite at their recently deceased mother’s home to divide her possessions, only for a long-buried family secret to come out and upset everything they thought they knew about themselves and each other. Directed by Michael Longhurst, it is a darkly comic family drama.
The play centres on Liv, Rob, Michelle and Jonny as they try to deal with the legacy they have inherited and the difficult compromise of growing up. It is presented as a story about family tension, difficult choices and what happens when old patterns can no longer hold.
