Relics at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is the world premiere of Ben Ockrent’s darkly comic family drama, directed by the award-winning Michael Longhurst. It follows four siblings who reunite at their recently-deceased mother’s home to divide her possessions, only for a long-buried family secret to surface and unsettle everything they thought they knew about one another.
The play centres on Liv, who wants to force a return to how things used to be; Rob, who is trying to keep everyone on speaking terms; Michelle, who is no longer willing to carry the family line; and Jonny, whose button-pushing threatens to make things fall apart completely. Relics explores inherited legacies, difficult choices and the compromises involved in growing up.
