An Ideal Husband at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is a new production of Oscar Wilde’s enduring comedy, directed by the Lyric’s Associate Director, Nicholai La Barrie. It follows Sir Robert Chiltern, whose polished reputation, home and marriage are thrown into jeopardy by the arrival of the devious Mrs Cheveley.
Her revelations bring the threat of scandal, betrayal and public disgrace, turning the play into a sharply drawn test of how far a man will go to protect his good name. The production presents Wilde’s social satire in a contemporary staging that keeps the focus on secrets, status and reputation.
Performances run from 7 May to 6 June 2026.
