An Ideal Husband at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is a bold new production of Oscar Wilde’s enduring comedy, directed by the Lyric’s Associate Director, Nicholai La Barrie. It follows Sir Robert Chiltern, a man with an immaculate reputation and a life that appears perfectly arranged, until the arrival of Mrs Cheveley brings secrets, scandal and betrayal into view.
Set within London society, the play asks how far a “perfect gentleman” will go to protect his good name. It is running at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre from 7 May to 6 June 2026.
