Allegra is a brand new comedy with music at Panton St, West End, London SW1Y 4DN. Written by Olivier and Tony Award nominated playwright Peter Quilter, it stars Dame Maureen Lipman in the title role and is directed and choreographed by three-time Olivier Award winner Stephen Mear.
The story follows Allegra, who sings wherever she is — at home, in the street, and even in local shops and cafés. At times the orchestra exists only in her imagination; at others, it spills into the real world around her. Her brother Ronen and her carer Anna try to keep life steady as they support her.
The production includes iconic musical numbers such as Singin' in the Rain, Ain't No Sunshine, Dream A Little Dream Of Me and Happy Days Are Here Again. Dame Maureen Lipman is appearing in her first UK tour for 20 years.
