About Allegra

Allegra is a new heart-warming comedy with music from Olivier and Tony Award nominated playwright Peter Quilter, the writer of End of the Rainbow and Glorious! Dame Maureen Lipman stars in the title role.

The story follows Allegra, who bursts into song at home, in the street and even in local shops and cafés. At times the orchestra seems to exist only in her imagination; at others, it spills into the real world, affecting everyone around her.

Directed and choreographed by three-time Olivier Award winner Stephen Mear, the production looks at family, love and holding on to joy. It marks Dame Maureen Lipman’s first UK tour for 20 years and includes Singin’ in the Rain, Ain’t No Sunshine, Dream A Little Dream Of Me and Happy Days Are Here Again.
