Allegra is a brand new heart-warming comedy with music from Olivier and Tony Award nominated playwright Peter Quilter, at Panton St, West End, London SW1Y 4DN. It centres on Allegra, a woman full of life and joy, who sings at home, in the street, and even in local shops and cafés. Sometimes the orchestra exists only in her imagination; sometimes it spills into the real world around her.
The story follows the people closest to her, including her devoted brother Ronen and her carer Anna, as they try to support someone they love without losing the spark that makes her who she is. The show is directed and choreographed by three-time Olivier Award winner Stephen Mear.
Dame Maureen Lipman stars in the title role in her first UK tour for 20 years. The production includes musical numbers such as Singin’ in the Rain, Ain’t No Sunshine, Dream A Little Dream Of Me and Happy Days Are Here Again.
