My Neighbour Totoro is now playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. This award-winning stage production adapts Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated feature film into a coming-of-age story about sisters Satsuki and Mei, set across one extraordinary summer and shaped by the power of childhood imagination.

Brought to the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV, and adapted by Tom Morton-Smith, the production has won six Olivier Awards. It has been described by reviewers as “a tender and remarkably beautiful show” and features a staging that includes puppets, some large scale, which interact in audience space.

Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

Before you book

Age recommendation is 6+. The production is not suitable for children under 6 years old, including babes in arms, and children under 4 years old, including babes in arms, will not be admitted into the auditorium. All children must have their own seat and be able to sit in it without assistance throughout the performance.

All persons aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must sit with them and stay with them throughout the visit. All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. Please note that single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.

The show contains themes of an ill parent in hospital, live music and sound effects that are loud at times and may be scary for some younger children. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
