

My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London is the stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s 1988 animated film, created in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV. It is adapted by Tom Morton-Smith and brought to the stage by the Royal Shakespeare Company, with Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi.
This record-breaking production has won six Olivier Awards. It follows sisters Satsuki and Mei through one extraordinary summer, telling a story about childhood, imagination and a magical fantasy world.
The show is now playing in London’s West End.
Running time: 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20-minute interval. Age recommendation: 6+.
This production is recommended for ages 6+. It is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, including babes in arms, and children under 4 years of age, including babes in arms, will not be admitted. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, who must be seated with them. Children need to occupy their own seat at all times throughout the performance.
Every person entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket. Single seats cannot be left in a row when booking. The show features puppets, including some large-scale puppets that interact in audience space, themes of an ill parent in hospital, and live music and sound effects that may be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children. Younger children and babes in arms are welcome at relaxed performances.
