About

About Arcadia

Arcadia at the Duke of York's Theatre is Sir Tom Stoppard's play about the meeting point of science, romance and the search for order. After a critically acclaimed run at The Old Vic, it transfers to the West End this summer under the direction of Carrie Cracknell.

Set in a country house across two centuries, the play moves between 1809 and the present day. Thomasina Coverly, a teenage prodigy, explores mathematics, nature and the forces that shape the universe, while Hannah Jarvis investigates a mysterious chapter in Lord Byron's life. As past and present intertwine, the story asks whether life's patterns can ever be fully understood.

Key facts: Opens on 20 June at the Duke of York's Theatre for a strictly limited 12-week run. The theatre is being newly renovated into the round especially for this production.
