Arcadia at the Duke of York's Theatre is Sir Tom Stoppard's play, transferred to the West End following its critically acclaimed run at The Old Vic. Directed by Carrie Cracknell, this new production opens at the Duke of York's Theatre, newly renovated into the round for this production, from 20 June for a strictly limited 12-week run.
Set in a country house two centuries apart, the play moves between 1809 and the present day. It follows teenage prodigy Thomasina Coverly as she explores mathematics, nature and the forces that govern the universe and the human heart, alongside author Hannah Jarvis as she investigates a chapter in the life of Lord Byron.
As past and present intertwine, Arcadia brings together science, romance, curiosity and the search for patterns in life. It focuses on the tension between order and disorder, and on how questions can echo across time.
