Arcadia is at Duke of York's Theatre, St Martin's Lane, London. Sir Tom Stoppard's play transfers to the West End from The Old Vic in a new production directed by Carrie Cracknell, with the theatre being newly renovated into the round especially for this run.
Set in a country house across two centuries, the play follows Thomasina Coverly in 1809 as she explores mathematics, nature and the forces that shape the universe, and Hannah Jarvis in the present day as she investigates a chapter in Lord Byron's life. As past and present overlap, the story turns on curiosity, knowledge, myth and the tension between order and disorder.
The production follows a critically acclaimed run. The Standard described it as “a fitting tribute to Tom Stoppard's genius”.
