Arcadia at the Duke of York's Theatre, St Martin's Lane, London, is Sir Tom Stoppard's play in a West End transfer from The Old Vic's critically acclaimed production. Directed by Carrie Cracknell, it returns to the stage in a new production.
Set in a country house two centuries apart, the play follows teenage prodigy Thomasina Coverly in 1809 as she explores mathematics, nature and the forces that govern the world and the human heart.
In the present day, author Hannah Jarvis investigates a mysterious chapter in the life of Lord Byron. As past and present unfold together, the story examines curiosity, discipline, romantic myth and whether life can ever be fully understood. The Duke of York's Theatre is being newly renovated into the round especially for this production.
Key facts
Suitable for ages 14+. Opens on 20 June for a strictly limited 12-week run. BSL performance on Saturday 15 August at 7pm, with an evening captioned performance on 6 August.
