Overview

Easter weekend 2024 see’s The London Int’l Ska Festival return for it’s 36th anniversary, with a series world exclusive events including this return to Camden Town's iconic Dingwalls venue.

As the legendary voice of Dave & Ansell Collins, Dave Barker hit the UK number 1 spot with the immense Double Barrel, which was also the first reggae hit on the US charts! His collaborations with Lee Perry and The Upsetters and Winston Riley and The Techniques showcased him as one of the most original and best soul voices to emerge from Jamaica. For this very special headline performance Dave will be reuniting with Phoenix City All-stars, who he recorded and toured with in 2012!

Joining them are ska legends Potato 5, who were at the forefront of the late 80's UK ska explosion, not only performing at the very first London Int'l Ska Festival at The Brixton Fridge, but also key shows at London's iconic Astoria Theatre, Brixton Academy and Town & Country club. Their 1987 debut album, starred the two legendary singers; Laurel Aitken and Floyd Lloyd, alongside their trademark blistering horn led instrumentals! The Spuds quickly established themselves as one of the most loved British ska bands with hits like Western Special, Tear Up, Jesse Jackson, Sally Brown, Big City, Sahara, Dial M For Murder, Got To Go and Mad About You still getting global airplay today.

The trio of headliners is completed by Phoenix City All-stars, who’s series of authentic ska and reggae reinterpretation albums over the last decade has heard them being championed by BBC's David Rodigan, Don Letts, Craig Charles, Chris Hawkins, Huey Morgan and Radcliffe & Maconie! Steve Lamacq played the band everyday for 4 years on his BBC Radio 6 Music show, whilst it's been known for The Specials/2 Tone Records founder - Jerry Dammers to include the All-stars version of his own song 'Stereotype' in his DJ set! High praise indeed. Legendary reggae & 2 Tone artists have recorded and guested with them including; Dave Barker, Dave & Ansel Collins, The Pioneers, AJ Franklin (Chosen Few), Rico Rodriguez, Neol Davies (The Selecter), Horace Panter (The Specials) and Freddie Notes.

Support comes from the hottest new bands on the scene today - Dakka Skanks and Junior Bill, plus DJ's Nanker P (Time Tunnel) and Lili Rudies!

The evening is followed by The Great Camden Ska Dance club night with DJ's Alan Handscombe, Ronnie King and Oxman!

All happening at Camden Town's historic Dingwalls venue!
